DAY 2: Monday, October 19, 2009
The real adventure begins! We finished unpacking this morning, then scavenged the refrigerator for lunch. Wes had been grocery shopping, but all that remained aside from the oatmeal we had for breakfast was a carton of eggs, leftover fruit, and a bit of milk. We managed, but I knew the petit monsters wouldn't be satisfied for long! So, we bundled up as if we were in the Arctic Circle and found our way to Whole Foods, where I quickly learned the importance of all the stroller gadgets you can forego in less urban settings. Thankfully, there was a baby store next door, where we returned after naps to purchase an indoor tent that will serve as Henry's bed while we're here. Funny...when we lived in San Diego, we--and the rest of the city--referred to the homeless (who are the smartest homeless people in the world, by the way...there is no better place to be than Southern California when you don't have a roof over your head) as "urban campers." Now, our sweet baby boy is just that, an urban camper. Oh, the irony!
